What It Does
- Deeply nourishes and repairs dry, depleted, and mature skin overnight

This is not a light moisturiser. This is a treatment. Use it as your last step at night, wake up to skin that feels genuinely restored.
The Ingredient Story
Shea Butter (Makhan) is the base — one of the most skin-compatible plant butters in existence, rich in fatty acids that repair and seal the skin barrier without clogging it. It’s been used on skin across Africa and now across the world because nothing else does what it does quite as reliably.
Mahua Oil — pressed from the flowers of the Mahua tree, native to the forests of Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha — is the forest ingredient most skincare will never find. Sacred to adivasi communities who have used it for generations for deep skin nourishment, it brings a richness to this formula that no commercial oil can replicate. Deeply conditioning, completely adapted to dry and depleted skin.
Jojoba (Jojoba Tel) mimics the skin’s own sebum — absorbing easily and carrying the other ingredients deeper into the skin rather than sitting on the surface. Castor Oil (Arandi Tel) seals everything in, adding a protective layer that lets the actives work through the night undisturbed.
Then come the two that make this a night treatment, not just a moisturiser.
Kumkumadi Tailam — Kashmiri Kesar, Chandan, Manjistha, and other traditional herbs — is Ayurveda’s most celebrated brightening and complexion formula. In an oil-based butter with no water to dilute it, it reaches the skin at full potency. Kesar improves circulation beneath the surface. Chandan cools and repairs. Manjistha works steadily on clarity and tone. Together they do their best work in darkness — which is exactly when this butter delivers them.
Haldi (Turmeric / Curcuma Longa) has been used on Indian skin since before skincare was a category. Anti-inflammatory, clarifying, and deeply nourishing — it works overnight on the kind of dullness and uneven tone that builds up quietly over time. Tocopherol (Vitamin E) protects the formula’s oils from oxidation and adds its own skin-repairing benefit.
No water. No fragrance. No compromise. The scent is natural and warm — earthy Mahua, the faint warmth of Kumkumadi and Haldi. Nothing added, nothing artificial.
Texture & Scent
A rich, warm buttery texture that melts between your fingertips on contact. Spreads easily, sinks in slowly — this is not a fast-absorbing gel. It’s meant to stay, to work, to repair through the night. The scent is earthy and warm — Mahua and Kumkumadi underneath, a faint golden warmth from Haldi. Natural, grounding, and completely unfragranced.
How To Use
- Take a small amount — less than you think you need — and warm between fingertips
- Press gently onto clean face and neck in upward motions
- Leave overnight — do not rinse
- Use as your final step after serums or treatment products
Tip: In winter, use nightly. In summer or monsoon, use only on very dry patches or skip entirely if your skin is oily or breakout-prone. A little goes a long way — this is a concentrated treatment, not a daily moisturiser.
Best For
- Dry, very dry, and mature skin needing deep overnight nourishment
- Skin that feels depleted, tight, or oil-hungry year-round
- Winter repair and barrier recovery
- Anyone wanting a natural Kumkumadi night treatment without synthetic fragrance
- Skin graduating from light gels to something that actually feeds it
Not For
- Oily or acne-prone skin — especially in summer and monsoon
- Daytime use — Turmeric and Kumkumadi work best at night and may increase sun sensitivity
- Anyone who prefers a light, fast-absorbing texture
Why Kshitii
Most night creams are 60-70% water with a handful of actives diluted down to near-irrelevance. This has no water. Every ingredient is active. Mahua Oil from forest communities who have used it for generations. Kumkumadi Tailam at full concentration. Haldi that actually reaches the skin. Small batch, anhydrous, and completely honest about what it is — a rich, traditional overnight treatment for skin that needs more than a light gel can give.
FAQs
Why is this only for nighttime use? Two reasons. First, the oils in this formula — particularly Kumkumadi Tailam and Mahua — are rich and occlusive, not suited for daytime use under SPF or makeup. Second, Turmeric and Kumkumadi Tailam are photosensitive — they work significantly better in darkness and may increase sensitivity to UV if used in sunlight.
Can I use this in summer? If your skin is very dry or mature and oil-hungry year-round, a small amount at night is fine. If your skin is oily, combination, or breakout-prone — skip it entirely in summer and monsoon. Come back to it in October.
Why is there no water in this formula? Water requires preservatives and emulsifiers that dilute the active ingredients. An anhydrous — water-free — formula means every ingredient is an active. Nothing is filler. The richness you feel is the formula doing its job, not padding.
How much should I use? Less than you think. A pea-sized amount warmed between fingertips is enough for the full face and neck. This is a concentrated treatment — a little goes a long way and a jar lasts considerably longer than a standard moisturiser.
Is this suitable for mature skin? Yes — this is one of the best fits for mature, dry, and depleted skin in the Kshitii range. Mahua Oil, Shea Butter, and Kumkumadi Tailam together provide the kind of deep, fatty-acid-rich nourishment that mature skin needs and rarely gets from lighter formulas.
